Dave Lefebre – Classic – then Home and Away

Bucks Skeeter Yamaha

LefebreBlogI’m on an airplane now, heading back from the Classic in Tulsa and I hate it. Flying not only terrifies me, but it hurts my head and ears. As I’m typing I feel like my ears are actually bleeding, but Lord willing, at least I might live through it…fingers crossed, typing helps.

As far as weekend goes…it was excellent! Everyone who’s anyone attended the Classic and I made some good contacts and many new friends throughout the three days. This industry has the best people in it, as well as the funniest. I don’t think I could have survived one more late night dinner, I never laughed so hard in my life, my ribs have ached since the first night. I’m already looking forward to next time.

I was there to help introduce the new Scatter Rap series from Rapala. There has been a lot of hype about it over the last few weeks and it definitely exceeded the expectations. It’s available in four body styles, the Shad, Crank, Minnow, and Countdown, and in 14-16 different colors, including some Custom Inks. The baits that were on the shelves in Tulsa sold out quickly and looking at them preform in the Dick’s fish tank was just crazy, no hard bait even came close. I could hardly show the actions because the fish wouldn’t leave them alone, lol. It was like tossing a Senko in there. I haven’t done an actual tank demo for years, the only thing I worried about was falling off of it into the water, ha, I’m a bad pacer and am much more comfortable on a big stage, but I managed to stay dry at least. Scatter Raps won’t be available for quite a while, but I promise I’ll let you know as soon as they are.

I met countless hard core Shad Rap and Shallow crankbait fishermen each day in Tulsa and I’m anxious to hear their feedback on this new concept in hard baits. It’s been such a huge secret that I haven’t even had an opportunity to fish these things yet. Some of you will most likely catch fish using it before I get to, so send me your opinions and big fish pics to my facebook page.

We will be heading out on Thursday, hitting the pavement to Bass Pro Shops in Leeds, AL. I’ll be doing seminars down there before practice begins for the next FLW Tour event. Our second Tour Major is at Lewis Smith Lake and I can’t wait. I think our timing is going to be perfect and their will be some huge bags weighed…at least I’m hoping. Last time we visited Smith I had a bad finish but an incredible practice…it was both humbling and devastating. I feel like I know what I did wrong back then, and have looked so forward to getting revenge on those big Smith Lake spotted bass. I have a good vibe about this one.

I’ll talk to you all next week during my official practice period, until then hook up with me on Facebook!
