Dave Lefebre – Missing the Classic

Not much new going on in old Erie, PA in the last week, other than record cold temperatures. I like the cold, but -18 is just too much, the rest of the week is much the same and it stretches pretty far south. In talking with several buddies fishing in this year’s Classic, I’m hearing that its going to be brutally cold in Georgia too. I’ve heard a few fishing reports from Hartwell, and from what I’ve heard, sounds on the tough side, but I think we all know better than that…They’re going to whack them. Its just too good of a lake and the right time of year for the monster pre-spawn sacks! Guys to watch?…All recent FLW boys in my book…Jacob Wheeler, Randy Tharp, Ott DeFoe, and my wildcard is Matt Herren.

It appears I’ll be missing my first Classic in 22 years, lol. I’ve been up to my eyeballs in meetings with potential sponsors and working on the new TV show. This is full-fledged transition time…fun!

Dave and His Friend Brad

The show ideas are coming together and I think I’ll have my longtime buddy, Brad, as my compadre. He’s like the polar opposite of me, which should come across naturally…I hope. He’s a funny dude, dry sense of humor, and not much into fishing, perfect! The goal is to pump out a quick ice show before I hit the road to Florida to kick of the tournament season. So that means there’s not much time. We’re looking at keeping it local/regional at least to start and the folks involved have a lot of experience, which obviously helps, cause this is all new to me.

Rapala Shadow Rap

Speaking of new, Rapala is at it again, introducing a new bait at the upcoming Classic. I’ve had them since late last fall and already have one with teeth marks all over it. Its revolutionary and could challenge the Scatter Rap craze. I wish I could say more about what it does in the water, but that will all be let out of the bag by the boys competing this weekend. When they’re available, make sure you get one quick, because Scatter Raps were tough to find when you needed one and I’d expect the same with the new Shadow Rap.
