Dave Lefebre – Stuck on the Red Fighting Stumps and the Flu

Power Pole

LefebreBlogLooks like I have plenty of time to write my blog today. This is supposed to be my third day of practice at the Red River, LA but unfortunately I have a bad case of the flu. Mitchell had it last week and Macy and I just came down with it Sunday night. This is obviously bad timing as this is going to be a very tough tournament, I’m praying to get on the water this afternoon if possible. I missed all of yesterday’s practice, couldn’t eat anything at all, and basically slept all day. I have some other work I need to get done, like change some line and some hooks, so I should be able to get that done at least.

Lackie and I put in a long hard day on Sunday on the Red. The water is really muddy, but it’s coming down and there’s not much debris floating on the main river. We didn’t catch anything worth talking about; I found one area with some smaller fish (under 2 pounds) and that is about it. If I can’t get on the water today, that is all that I will have to go to come tournament time. It took me over an hour to get into this area, but if I don’t get hung on a big stump it should only take about 20 minutes, lol. We really got stuck badly; I actually thought my boat was going to flip right over when I was trying to gun it free.

Dave Lefebre Stumped on the RedI did get out on Presque Isle Bay a couple times before we left to come down to Shreveport, LA. On Thursday, I had a photo shoot in the morning and then took a couple of friends out fishing the rest of the day. Dan and Denny from Reel Grip make it up about once a year to fish and we always have a great time. We caught 75 bass on tubes, jigs, and X-Raps in 3 hours. The smallmouths were just beginning to come up to spawn, it was crazy and I can tell you I hated to leave PA. We plan on heading home for a couple of days before heading to the Potomac River for the next event. Anne and kiddies will not be going to that one. After the Potomac, I’ll be fishing the Bay for 3 straight days with a couple of my good buddies from FLW Outdoors…can’t wait for that!

Well, I need to get some rest and try to get rid of this stupid sickness. You can keep up with me on Facebook throughout this event and don’t forget to play Fantasy Fishing!
