Fish With Ish: One Down; One Down and Many to go for 2011

Bucks Falcon Mercury

IshBlogThe first tournament of the year didn’t go the way I had hoped. It ended up being a sight fishing tournament, something that I love to do. Somehow I missed it, and the flippin bite, too. It’s just one of those things, I guess that’s why they call it fishing and not catching.

Several big name guys and guys that pretty much live on that place didn’t do well either. Maybe it’s just the changing of the times, things are different, who knows?
I spent Superbowl Sunday with a good buddy of mine, FLW Cup Champion Michael Bennett. I wasn’t really pulling for either team, I was just glad it was a good game. I liked the commercials, they got me excited for some upcoming movies like transformers and a few others. Don’t even get me started about the National Anthem, Christina (Aguilera) can definitely sing, but ouch! I guess that’s just more evidence that pressure hits everyone at all levels and professions.

On the fishing front, I am still down here in Florida practicing on the St. Johns River in preparation for the Bassmaster Elite Series event. I am going to spend another day here on the river, then off to West Point Reservoir for some more pre-practice. Next week I am headed to the Classic in New Orleans.

Following the Classic I am headed dragging the new Ranger Z-521 with the Yamaha SHO to Beaver. The SHO is now all broke in and running great! I got my Lowrance Electronics all dialed in and I have to say, I am digging the Sonic Hub for the music and for the weather. Down here in Florida the weather changes fast and to be able to watch that closely is a cool deal and can be a major factor for both safety and fishing.
