Skeet’s Beat – A Surprise Trip Home

Bucks Skeeter Yamaha

SkeetBlogI was supposed to be doing some R&D with Mark Sexton from Berkley on Havoc baits after the Bull Shoals tournament, but when the event got pushed back a day because of the bad weather, I got the chance to make a surprise trip home.

I got n the TroKar / Havoc Big Rig and booked it over to Birmingham so that I could catch a flight home for a couple days.

It was cool, because the girls didn’t know I was coming home, so I got to surprise them.

We’re in the process of remodeling our house, so we’re living in cramped quarters, with all of us sleeping in the same room for now.  I snuck in at about 1:00 in the morning and climbed into bed.  The next morning, when they were starting to rustle around to get ready for school, I said, “good morning girls.” They freaked out and jumped into bed with me for a few minutes before they went to school.  That was fun.

It was good to be home, but for the remodeling project too.  Kim and I weren’t really happy with the layout of the fireplace and we were able to discuss it, and talk to the contractor, who was able to get it resolved.  So, that was good.

Along with that, I got to mow some more weeds around the house – Yay.

I’m now down here in Georgia for the fourth Elite Series stop of the season.  I had to spend half of my first day here washing my truck and boat from the dirt road I was staying on at Bull Shoals – it was a frickin’ mess.  But, that was my workout for the day.

I’m gonna work on tackle and get ready for practice.

I’d love to win this thing.  it looks like the lake is higher and dirtier than last time we were here, so we’ll see how it turns out.
