Boyd Duckett Falcon Lake Scorecard StageGary Yamamoto Custom Baits, a legendary manufacturer of high performance fishing tackle, announced today that they have added 2007 Bassmaster Classic champion Boyd Duckett to the company’s pro staff. Along with Larry Nixon and Jay Yelas, this brings the number of Classic champs GYCB has brought onto their team this year to three. In addition to the company’s record-setting soft plastics, Duckett will promote an additional line of products that will be introduced at this year’s ICAST show

“I have admired Boyd Duckett for many years,” said company founder Gary Yamamoto. “He’s a successful businessman of the highest integrity and he’s also extremely articulate and opinionated. Most importantly, though, he’s a proven winner at the highest levels of professional fishing.”

As he built extraordinarily successful careers in the country music business and tank leasing industry, Duckett did not have an opportunity to fish full-time, but he burst into the national consciousness in 2007 when he became the first angler to win the Classic in his home state, a feat that has not been matched since. That year he also set the single-season record for B.A.S.S. winnings by pocketing a total of $865,000. In a little over a half decade since then, he won the made-for-television Ultimate Match Fishing champion on the Outdoor Channel and was a prime force behind the development of Major League Fishing. Additionally, he conceived and operates his namesake Duckett Fishing, a manufacturer of high-end fishing rods used by many top competitors.

“I don’t need to align myself with any company at this point in my career, but the opportunity to combine forces with Yamamoto was too great to pass up,” Duckett said. “I’ve used their soft plastics for years with great success, and when the new items come to market later this year I think that they will really turn some heads. I look forward to continuing to win high-level tournaments with these lures and feel that they give me a substantial edge over those anglers who don’t use them.”

Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits, based in Page, Arizona, makes tournament-tested fishing tackle that can be used effectively by novices and champion anglers alike. The company produces a wide range of products, most notably soft plastics baits such as the Hula Grub and the Senko, two first-of-their-kind lures which remain the standard-bearers for their categories today.

Stay tuned for information about the company’s newest creations, which will likewise set the standard for their group.
