Free SoCal Youth Fishing Event

South El Monte – The fishing event will be at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area at North Legg Lake, located at 751 South Santa Anita, South El Monte, CA 91733 on Saturday, December 07, 2013.

This activity is designed to give boys and girls who live in urban areas an opportunity to enjoy a fishing experience in or close to their own neighborhood, with rod & reels, tackle, bait and assistance provided. Event day onsite registration will begin at 8:00AM.; the fishing session will go from 9:00AM. to noon, followed by a congratulatory ceremony and drawing.

Anglers age 16 or older can fish at the end of the event, but they must have a California State Fishing License.

The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation is co-sponsoring the derby with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and other partners expected to participate.
