GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado USA – ICAST 2013 INTRODUCTION – Both in freshwater and saltwater fishing situations, anglers can experience an extra level of confidence with the new PowerPro Zero-Impact microfilament braided line. Introducing ‘Termination Zone Technology’ to braid, the new Zero-Impact is available in 20- to 100-pound test strengths – each in 150-, 300- and 500-yards spools – and in both hi-vis yellow and aqua green colors.

Setting Zero-Impact apart from standard braided fishing line, PowerPro engineers are able to make the braid stronger in the ‘termination zones’ by 50-percent. “The 32-inch ‘Termination Zone’ is a clearly identifiable black section after every 20-foot section,” explains Ted Sakai, PowerPro product manager. “Normally any braided line on the market loses 30- to 50-percent of its strength you make a knot. It’s this black section where you tie on your lure, swivel or leader so this impact area is not only stronger, but also provides typically 100-percent knot strength.”

The key advantage of Zero-Impact braid is the ability for anglers to tighten up the drag, set the hook hard, and giving absolutely zero chance to escape, Sakai notes. For bass fishing, Zero-Impact is ideal for flipping and punching with that ‘set the hook hard’ capability in heavy weed, or casting a frog on grass. When musky fishing, Zero-Impact provides a sense of security when casting big lures with accidental backrushing.

In saltwater, “we had great success casting poppers and the Shimano ORCA pencil baits in open water for tuna,” said Sakai. “With the drag tightened down, the added knot strength Zero-Impact gives when you tie onto the leader is a definite fish-catching advantage.”

All manufactured at its facility in Grand Junction, Colo., Zero-Impact and its Termination Zone Technology’ joins other advances in braided fishing line, including Enhanced Body Technology, available to anglers from PowerPro. Part of Shimano American Corp., PowerPro provides braided fishing line to fisherman around the globe.
