“Combs has been a rock solid performer on the professional bass scene for years. With an Elite series victory, three Toyota Texas Bass Classic titles, and the largest single day weight record in FLW history with over 41-pounds on Falcon Lake, he’s regarded as an absolute force on Texas waters, but his record shows he’s always a genuine threat to win anywhere bass swim,” said Shimano’s marketing manager Kurt Mazurek. “Plus, his unshakeable, competitive confidence on the water and easy-going, approachable personality off the water, makes him a fan favorite and exactly the kind of guy we want representing Shimano. We can’t be more pleased that Keith is now putting his Shimano reels on Shimano rods.”

At the upcoming Bassmaster Classic on Lake Conroe in Texas – where Combs won the 2013 Toyota Texas Bass Classic, he’ll be relying on a his collection of trusty Curado 200HG reels matched to Zodias 172MH-G cranking rods for shallow and mid-depth cranking. He said he also has all kinds of confidence flipping with Shimano’s new Expride 171H rod with Shimano Metanium MGL and new Chronarch MGL reels.

“Over my 10 years as a full-time professional angler, being confident in your approach is just as important as using the right lures,” said Combs. “Having the opportunity to use Shimano reels and rods – knowing I’m fishing with the finest tackle on the market – just adds to my confidence. I can’t wait to show the bass fishing market all the great new tackle Shimano is making.”

Mazurek notes that along with Keith fishing with them on Lake Conroe, “we’ll be officially introducing the new Chronarch MGL baitcasting reels and Expride bass rods at the Bassmaster Classic Outdoor Expo in Houston. Combs has also been a big part of Shimano’s introduction of its new Tranx 300 and 400-size baitcasting reels, perfect for the biggest crankbaits, swimbaits and Alabama rigs, and also showcased at the Expo.”
