Mississippi DWFP Free Fishing Day Oct 5

Bucks Falcon Mercury

JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Fisheries Bureau and The Cliff White Chapter of the Mississippi Wild Turkey Federation are hosting a free family fishing day at Lake Bogue Homa on Saturday, October 5. Lake Bogue Homa is located off of Hwy 84, east of Laurel.

The day will began with a fishing rodeo for youth ages 15 and under. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. This event will offer a quality fishing experience for younger anglers in a controlled and safe environment. The rodeo area will be well stocked with catfish to make it easier for participants to catch fish. This event is a great way for families to spend quality time together. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, catfish bait, and stringers. Other activities will include games, booths, educational displays, face painting, and clothesline art.

There will be no charge for the event and family members can fish after the rodeo. State Lake Fishing Permit fees will be waived for the day. A tagged fish worth $100 will be placed in the fishing area. Lunch is also included.
