New Bass Plates for Alabama Automobiles

Bucks Falcon Mercury

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources recently received approval to pre-sell its new “Freshwater Fishing” distinctive license plate. This tag depicts a largemouth bass, the state’s official freshwater fish, and has up to six spaces for optional personalization. Proceeds from the sale of the tag will support habitat enhancement, aquatic wildlife species protection and restoration, aquatic education, bass genetic research, sport fish disease research and sport fish stockings.

The Alabama Department of Revenue requires that 1,000 commitments are received to ensure that a distinctive license plate has adequate support before it is produced. This process requires the completion of a “Commitment to Purchase” application at your County Probate Office and a $50 fee. However, if you are among the first 1,000 to sign up, your fee will either be reimbursed or paid by the Alabama Conservation and Natural Resources Foundation depending on your method of commitment. Once the new “Freshwater Fishing” tag reaches its commitment goal of 1,000, production will begin and our current “Take a Kid Fishing” license plate will be retired.

We hope that you will join us in the effort to fund aquatic wildlife management and protection by displaying the “Freshwater Fishing” distinctive license plate on your vehicle. For additional information, go to www.outdooralabama.com. If you have any questions, please contact us at (334) 242-3471.
