Snider Wins Walmart BFL on Barren River Lake

Power Pole

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky., – Kevin Snider of Elizabethtown, Ky., weighed a 10-bass limit totaling 31 pounds, 8 ounces Sunday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Mountain Division event on Barren River Lake. For his victory, Snider earned $7,874.

“I caught a lot more fish the first day than the second day,” said Snider. “But I caught better quality the second day. I caught a lot of them on deep flats and I had a few points I went to – anywhere from 14 to 20 feet. The bigger fish bit better in the afternoon.

“I’m tired of second-place finishes. Even though this was just a BFL it was huge to me.”

Snider said he caught his fish on a homemade swimbait, homemade green pumpkin worm, a flutter-spoon and Tennessee Shad-colored Strike King 6XD crankbait.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and compete to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the Walmart BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
