Casey Scanlon – To More to Go in 2014

Bucks Falcon Mercury

ScanlonBlogHeaderI just wrapped up the Major League Fishing events and while I cannot reveal too much information, I will say that the episodes will be very exciting, along with a few surprises. The shows will air on the Outdoor Channel this fall. Be sure to tune in to see how I do. It’ll be exciting. And don’t forget to sign up for the extended cast on their website.

Lake Dardanelle and BASSfest at Lake Chickamauga were my most recent events. Lake Dardanelle offered some great fishing for not only me but for everyone. I found a decent pattern targeting wood and grass in shallow water. I threw a Lucky-E-Strike RC2, series 3 in black and chartreuse and a Bass Kandi Texas Craw in black and blue color. These two baits proved to be very effective throughout the tournament allowing me to make it day three and ending up with a great finish.

BASSfest on Lake Chickamauga was an awesome event to be a part of. It was a 5-day event with an interesting format that had never been done before. Tournament days 1 and 2 were held on Lake Chickamauga, and all anglers participated. Day 3 was reserved for those who did not place in the top 50. Those anglers got a shot at a ‘second chance’ tournament on Nickajack Lake. Weights from Nickajack Lake were not counted into your overall weight, but to fish day 4 it was required to make the top 10 cut. Day 4 tournament was back on Lake Chickamauga where the top 50 anglers from days 1 and 2 and the top 10 anglers from day 3 fished. It was an interesting set up that made for some competitive fishing. I used a Bass Kandi T-Craw and a Lucky-E-Strike football jig fishing off shore and deep structure, although I found fish in practice, I found it difficult to stay on these fish throughout the tournament. I was however able to find some time to spend in the Nitro boat’s booth, talking with potential customers, explaining the exciting new and innovative technologies going on at Nitro boats.

Most recently, I participated in the Big Cedar Legends Golf tournament and Pro-Am. This event was held at Big Cedar Lodge and presented by Bass Pro Shops. It was great to see everyone from the Nitro team out there despite all the rain. The golf course was awesome and my partners, Mark Sexton, Brad Danbom and I were a powerful team. This event was a lot of fun and I hope to participate in the event again next year!

Since we are on a break until the Delaware River event, I will be fishing local lakes and giving guided trips. For those of you who don’t know, I give guided fishing trips on Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock and Truman lake to name a few. These trips not only give you the opportunity to fish some of the best lakes in Missouri but also how to fish the lakes effectively. I really enjoy helping others learn fishing patterns, practice techniques and try to catch that trophy of a lifetime. For additional information on a guided trip with me go to my website caseyscanlonfishing.com.

I will be heading to ICast July 15 – 18 hanging out in the Lucky-E-Strike and Maxima Fishing Line booths. I am super excited to be offered the opportunity to join them in their booths to inform others on their new and innovative products.

Stay tuned as we go into the last two Elite events. My goal, as it is every season, is to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic. If I can have a couple of decent finishes I can qualify.
