Park Hill, Okla. pro Jason Christie Joins Lazer TroKar

DENVER, COLORADO – Lazer TroKar announced another signing today.  The World’s Sharpest and Only American Made Hook Company got even stronger with the signing of Oklahoma’s own Jason Christie.

Christie started tournament fishing at the BFL level, where he celebrated an impressive six wins and earned 23 top-10 finishes. In his short time on Tour he has already earned more than a half million dollars with FLW. In 2011, Christie finished fourth in the Angler of the Year Race and won his first Tour event on Lake Hartwell, qualifying for his third consecutive Forrest Wood Cup, where he finished in 10th place.

Christie and his wife Amy have three girls. His favorite technique is flippin’ and he loves Grand Lake.  He says his favorite hook from the TroKar line-up is the 5/0 Flippin’ Hook.  When not fishing, he can be found deer hunting or coaching basketball. Christie has coached both a girls and boys junior high school basketball team to the state championships in the same year.

Jason was born and raised in Eastern Oklahoma. He grew up hunting on family land and fishing on the local lake. He played basketball throughout high school where he earned a scholarship to play at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. He graduated with a degree in education in 1998 and began his profession as a coach. During his last year in college, Jason married his wife, Amy, and they started a family that now includes three daughters: Ali, Ana, and Jaslyn.

Over the years, Jason has competed in local and regional tournaments and has had a great amount of success. He started his tournament career fishing with various partners including his uncles and his dad and together they won many team tournaments. Jason also fished individually in pro-am events which proved to be successful and helped to build his confidence as a professional angler. His desire to compete was outgrowing the local tournament circuit and he wanted to see if he had what it takes to fish at a national level. His big break came October 2007 when he won a Stren Series event on Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach, Missouri and he knew that victory would help pay his way to fish against the big boys!

Jason’s love of fishing and the support of his family helped him make the decision to stop coaching and begin a career as a touring professional angler. In the last 5 years, he has 5 wins on a national level.  More information on Jason can be found at www.christiefishing.com.
