Media Day for Gone Fishin’ Alabama Event

WHAT: Media Day for the annual “Gone Fishin’, Not Just Wishin'” event for hundreds of Exceptional Anglers (special needs students).

WHEN: Media Day is Thursday, May 9, 2013, from 9-11 a.m.

WHERE: Oak Mountain State Park, 200 Terrace Dr., Pelham, Alabama

Members of the media are invited to come and meet exceptional, special education students from the Shelby and Jefferson County school systems as they learn to fish, participate in arts and crafts, play and sing with local musicians, and enjoy other activities. The participants, ages five through 21, have various physical and mental challenges.

This Community Fishing Program would not be possible without the generous support of area sponsors including: the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Alabama Gas Company, Alabama Power Company, Alabama Power Foundation, Alabama Power Service Organization, Alabama State Parks, Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, Bessemer Eye Clinic, Bud’s Best Cookies, City of Pelham, Coco-Cola, Consolidated Pipe, Golden Flake, Jefferson County Adapted Physical Education, Jefferson County Board of Education and Transportation, Oak Mountain State Park, Pelham Police and Fire Department, Shelby County Board of Education, and Syx Bait.
