Here are some Classic thoughts, wishes and trends we hope you enjoy: A Classic Trend – Since the first Power-Pole shallow water anchor appeared in Classic competition in 2008, a distinct trend has developed. From 24% of the anglers back in ’08, to an impressive 98% of this year’s competitors! Power-Pole has become the overwhelming choice. Duals Dominate – This Grand Lake Classic will feature 104 Power-Pole shallow water anchors in a 53 boat field. Interesting math… Pick a Lane on Rte 66 – Three Lane’s head to Grand Lake for the 2013 Classic. Defending Champion and Power-Pole favorite Chris Lane, his brother Bobby, and Prattville Alabama’s Russ Lane. Pick your Lane. First Third – This will be the 3rd Classic that the Lane brothers have competed together, including 2008, 2012 and 2013. A record that will be tough to beat! Second Third – There have been three sets of brothers that have competed in Classics, The Lane’s, Don and Tom Mann (1975) and David and Kevin Johnson (1980). Fishy families full of brotherly love! Twenty Third – Consecutive Classic appearances for Kevin VanDam! Where were you during the 1990 BassMaster Classic on the James River when this streak began? Ironically, that Classic was won by Rick Clunn. KVD is chasing Rick Clunn’s record of 28 consecutive Classic appearances. Good luck KVD! Congratulations to all 53 qualifiers for this year’s Classic.
