HomeblogsSkeet’s Beat – Hurricane Sandy I’m at Clear Lake for a couple of days this week doing a photo shoot for Dick’s Sporting Goods, but I’ve got some other things on my mind as well. Hurricane Sandy has made a wreck of the Northeast. I was at a Major League Fishing event in Florida when Sandy made her way past the coast of Florida, and even though it didn’t make landfall there, it was a strong storm. We fished in high winds and bursts of rain for most of the week, and the final two days of the week long filming were the worst. But, Florida didn’t get the worst of it, New York and New Jersey are still reeling from its effect. Kim and I decided to do something to try and help. We are doing an auction on my website; www.skeetreeseinc.com, from now through November 16 to try and help raise funds to be donated to the American Red Cross, or some other storm related charity. I’ve put up a Wright & McGill Co. tackle bag stuffed with tackle from Lucky Craft, TroKar, Berkley and Eagle Claw, some rod and reels combos and even a signed jersey. I don’t let too many of my jerseys go, but, I just feel like this is something that I can let go of one for. There are people in need of basic necessities and we want to help. Whatever the items go for, I will match that dollar amount up to $5,000. So, go to my site, make a bid to help people in need and get some good stuff in the process. Like I said, I’m doing a photo shoot at Clear Lake for Dick’s Sporting Goods, and then after that, I’ll spend a couple of days getting caught up around the house and then Kim and I are going to take the girls to go to New Orleans and visit my grandparents there. After that, we’ll have a couple of other outings around the holidays together and I’m looking forward to it. On another note, I need to say goodbye, and thank you to a company that has been a great partner for the past few years. Wiley X has been my eyewear sponsor for several years now, and I have enjoyed every minute of working with them. They are a class company that was founded and run by military veterans, the Freemans, and they build an exceptional product. I have been proud to wear my signature Skeet Reese Xcess glasses for the past few years, and I am extremely thankful for their partnership in my career. I wish you well in your new direction outside of the fishing industry. Anyway, make sure to take a look at my auction items on my site, and I hope you’ll help make a difference for the people in need after Hurricane Sandy.
