HomeNewsGene Larew Classic Boat Contest TULSA, Okla. (Feb. 18, 2013) – While most anglers claim to be good at estimating fish weights, Gene Larew Lures and friends are holding them more accountable with a different kind of number game if attending the 2013 Bassmaster Classic Expo this week in Tulsa, Okla., Feb. 22-24. For the luckiest one, it means leaving the event as the owner of a brand new Legend fiberglass bass boat rigged with a Honda 150 horsepower outboard motor and a MotorGuide trolling motor. Win a Legend Boat with Honda Outboard Larew, Legend Boats and Honda Marine have teamed with the legendary Tulsa radio station 98.5 KVOO to present a contest that invites expo visitors to guess how many Larew bass lures and Bobby Garland crappie baits are housed in a 10-gallon aquarium on display there. Entry into the contest is free and no purchase is necessary, but to be eligible for prizes the entrants must be at least 18 and must be present at the expo on Sunday. “Among the baits are 12″ El Salto Grande worms and 2″ Baby Shad, and just about every imaginable kind and size of lure in between, so I’m confident we’ll see guesses that run the gamut from a few hundred to several thousand,” said Chris Lindenberg, owner of Tulsa-based Gene Larew Lures. “The contest is all about having fun at a family-friendly event that costs nothing to attend. But with the fun come serious prizes, starting with the amazing grand prize of a Legend bass boat.” The Legend LE 186 prize boat measures 18′ 6″, has a 94″ beam and comes with a Honda 150 VTEC four-stroke outboard motor. The rig travels on a custom Legend Boats trailer. The top winner will be awarded a certificate for the boat, motor and trailer grand prize, valued at more than $30,000, allowing the opportunity for choosing boat color schemes and/or purchasing optional upgrades. Guess How Many Gene Larew Soft Baits in this 10 Gallon Tank In all, there are 98 potential prize packages, a number that coincides with KVOO’s 98.5 position on the FM radio dial. Entries will be accepted at the Larew, Legend and Honda booths, and all registrations will be combined at the close of the expo on Saturday. Then 98 names will be selected by random drawing and each will be notified by phone that night and informed they must be present at the Larew booth on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for a chance to win the boat. The qualifier present and whose guess among all other finalists in attendance is closest to the actual number of lures in the “lure box” will win the Grand Prize of a Legend Boats bass boat. All of the 98 who attend the prize ceremony will win a prize, but the actual number of qualifiers who are present will determine the final number of prizes to be awarded. Rounding out the top five prizes are four two-day fishing trips with well-known fishing experts from the region. The trips include a Lake Fork (Texas) outing with bass professional Gerald Brown; a Toledo Bend (Texas/Louisiana) excursion with pro angler Andrew Upshaw; a crappie expedition with crappie pro Kevin Rogers on Missouri’s Truman Lake; and a chance to fish where the Bassmaster Classic contenders competed on Oklahoma’s Grand Lake, with longtime guide Ivan Martin. The trip prizes include two nights of lodging at the lake, two days of fishing and the meals. Winners are responsible for transportation to and from the destination lakes. The additional prizes include quality items from other top brands in fishing, such as Lew’s rods and reels, Plano tackle storage systems and Optronics lighting products.
