Dave Lefebre – Hot Hot Springs

Bucks Skeeter Yamaha

LefebreBlogJust finished the regular season on the FLW Tour and now I’m getting excited for the Forrest Wood Cup on Lake Ouachita, AR. After the Pickwick event last week we decided to head straight over to Hot Springs to drop off the camper, it was about a 5 hour drive. After we saw the campground here and started thinking about our 15 hour drive home, we decided to stay down here for the 10 days off before practice starts. So here we are enjoying the record heat, lol. I’ve never been in severe heat (114) like this; it is so dang hot I can only fish in the mornings and evenings, and even then you can actually ring your shirt out.

I’ve been fishing as much as I can, trying to get used to the heat a little and getting as familiar with these Arkansas bass as I can. I’m not allowed on Lake Ouachita so I’ve been spending my time on Lake Hamilton right next door. Our campsite is actually on Hamilton and the boat ramp is about 100 yards away, it’s nice. We are about 10 miles from Brady Mountain Resort, the official take-off for the Cup. I didn’t bring the right equipment for the Cup because I thought we were going home after Pickwick, so I’ve been ordering the things I might need and spending way too much money at Trader Bill’s (the local tackle shop).

Hot Springs is a really good place to hang out or vacation. There’s a lot for the kids to do here, the other night we went go-cart riding, road the bumper boats, and played putt-putt golf, it was fun. Macy rode with me in the go-cart and she couldn’t get enough of that. She loved it, I thought she’d be scared to death, but that car couldn’t go fast enough, lol…she’s funny. We are enjoying some family time and visiting with our friends, the Tharps, who are camping right next to us for the month. The only thing missing is some good corn-hole competition for me and Randall. The wives teamed up and got a bit cocky, but after beating them 50 times in a row it starts to get boring, ha ha.

Well, that’s about it. Practice for the Cup starts on Sunday. Oh yeah, I’ll be at the Wal-Mart at 1601 Albert Pike Rd in Hot Springs on Saturday from 2-4pm, so come on over and say howdy and maybe talk some fishin!
