Mark Menendez – Anniversaries, TV and New Skeeter

Power Pole

MenendezBlogAs this week went by, I realized I had a couple of anniversaries.  It all came about as I looked up on the wall of my office.  There is a replica mount of the “Largest Bass” in the first 31 years of BASS History!  I landed this fish on a cold, foggy day on Richland Chambers Reservoir near Corsicana, Tex. on March 18, 1997.  It hit the scales during the Megabucks event weighing 13 pounds 9 ounces!  She smoked a cantaloupe colored spinnerbait out of the top of a standing tree on a submerged creek channel.

The second anniversary is of my first BASS win at Pickwick and Wilson Lake.  It came a year prior.  This was a very important time period for my career.

I managed to get out for a couple days filming an episode of “Strike King Pro Team Journal” television show.  The weather was all across the board.  My goal was to make this a very educational show.  We were able to take a Strike King Lure and color that has never been shown on the show and film this show! It will be out in the coming weeks.

My Skeeter FX20 is almost water ready.  The guys at the Old Baithouse in Paducah, Kent. worked on it hard.  I have a couple of new features on the boat. A very cool item is “The Bridge”.  This device is mounted across the recessed trolling motor hole on the bow of the boat.  My Lowrance HDS 7 sits this bracket in unutilized space.  This new accessory clears the Starboard side of the bow. It will give me better visibility for safer operations from the helm.

My Northstar Batteries are on the way as well.  These are “American Made” AGM batteries from Springfield, Mo.  They have performed very well for me the past three Elite seasons.  I’ll filler her up with gas and my rig will be ready for a huge local event on Kentucky Lake next week.  It will be nice to be back in tournament mode!  Even for one day!

I give you the run down next week!
