Skeet’s Beat – A Long Week Ahead

Bucks Falcon Mercury

SkeetBlogIt will be a busy and hectic week this week.

It started on Friday last
week when I made a quick trip to the Toyota Texas Bass Classic at Lake Conroe to
make an appearance for Berkley on their seminar tank. I flew in Friday, was
there for my scheduled four hours on Saturday morning and was home by Saturday
night.

I was supposed to be doing seminars there, but the rains that
drenched the whole Houston area made it impossible to do seminars on the tank.
So, I sat in the Berkley tent, greeted people and signed autographs the whole
time.

It seemed like it was a good event, and while I was loving seeing
all of my Elite Series colleagues on the leaderboard, FLW Pro Bryan Thrift came
out of nowhere and smashed ’em up good on the final day to win. So, while I was
at home by the time it ended, it was an exciting finish.

We had a family
barbeque at my brother Jim’s house on Sunday because my Mom is going in for open
heart surgery on Tuesday. We wanted to get everyone together and have a good
time to take our minds off of everything. My aunt and uncle was there and it was
good to see mom outside in the sun for awhile.

She had her pre-op
appointments and final tests on Monday, and by the time everyone reads this on
Tuesday, she’ll be in surgery. It’s a little nerve-racking because it’s a major
surgery, but they do this all the time, so I’m sure everything will be
alright.

I’ll get to see her after she wakes up for a little bit, but I
have to leave Wednesday to get to Denver for a TroKar team meeting where we will
go over new hook shapes and do photo shoots for ad campaigns etc. I’ll be home
by Friday and can check back in on mom and get home with Kim and the
girls.

That’s about it for now, I’m going to get ready for the long
night, I’ll check back in next week.
