John Murray – Mark’s Outdoors to West Point

Bucks Falcon Mercury

MurrayBlogI’m back in West Point and getting ready to go practice.

I had a great time at the Mark’s Outdoors Tournament representing Powell Rods there.
We had between 400 or 500 boats there, which is more than I’ve ever seen and actually was a pretty good time with thousands and thousands of dollars worth of prizes given away and handed out just so much more.

I caught a few fish and ended up getting I think 43rd out of whatever, 450 boats; whatever. And caught the tenth biggest fish and got a little money for that; so it was a good week

I caught all those flipping on a Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver on a one-ounce River2Sea Tungsten Trash Bomb on a Powell 775 Endurance Flippin’ stick, and an Ardent XS1000 reel.

So fishing wasn’t real good, it wasn’t as good as I expected, I think there are still a lot up on beds, but with about 500 boats, you don’t really have a lot of choices. So you just sorta fish where you go.

And that’s it. We’re set up here at West Point with practice starting Monday. I can’t wait to see how this lake shakes out; it’s a new lake, so it’ll probably be confusing here for a couple of days.

TJ is all clean and he’s playing in the camper while I put this blog together, and that’s about it; not much else to report. Other than that, our hearts go out to all of those people on the south who were affected by the storms last week. It’s a terrible tragedy that I can’t say enough to try to help people feel better, but we’re thinking of them. Talk to you guys next week.
