SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (September 14, 2016) – For more than forty years Safari Club International (SCI) has been committed to protecting hunters’ rights and promoting wildlife conservation. 55,000 SCI members and 190 SCI membership chapters support these two main focuses encouraging an appreciation for nature and wildlife and fighting to protect our rich hunting heritage. SCI reinforces their mission by sponsoring National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHF Day).

“Safari Cub International has long been considered one of the premier conservation and hunting rights organizations in the world,” said Misty Mitchell, director of Conservation for Wonders of Wildlife. “SCI is a great organization to sponsor NHF Day and we are proud to have them join our celebration.”
NHF Day, created by Congress in 1972, recognizes hunters, anglers and recreational shooters for their leadership and contributions to conservation in America. Saturday, September 24, marks the 2016 nationwide celebration.
“SCI and NHF Day are devoted to protecting and enhancing our great outdoors experiences,” said Chip Burkhalter, SCI’s Director of Government Affairs. “We are delighted to join with so many other great organizations in support of this special holiday. On behalf of all our members we offer our gratitude to the millions of outdoorsmen and women who share our beliefs and help pay for conservation in America.”
Generating more awareness of conservation, NHF Day is dedicated to spreading the word through various avenues including social media. Utilizing the hashtag “#1conservationist” will help accomplish this goal.
